While traveling home from Arkansas, my wife and I stopped at the Precious Moments Park and Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. We expected to find a small gift shop selling figurines; instead, we entered a magic kingdom for obsessed collectors.
The park was a wonderful respite from the highway and offered an opportunity for a few campy poses. The chapel park is located a few miles off the highway, down a two-lane country road. However, we knew that we had arrived when we saw the oversized signage and acres of free parking.
The temperature was about 100°F, so I thought that I would cool off in one of the fountains. Since I had not walked through a fountain since I was a child, I forgot how refreshing it could be to just wet my feet. However, when I stepped out of the pool onto the brick pathway, I burned the soles of both of my feet! (Maybe it was my penance for being sacrilegious in a chapel park.)
Even my wife found humor at the park! It was not only my antics that humored Peggy. The ambiance of the park was so campy that neither of us could keep a straight face.We are glad that we stopped. An afternoon spent laughing enriched our relationship.
To get a full flavor of the park’s amenities, visit the Precious Moment’s Park website.

Just so you know, I looked at the website and there are many beautiful precious moments figures available. Unfortunately, Steve’s birthday has passed this year (June 25), but my birthday is coming up soon – Sept. 11!
