On the advice of a friend, I stopped into Andy’s Barber Shop in Ellicott City, Maryland, this morning to get my flat top cut down to size. (click here for a map & phone number)
I found Andy’s in Google, specifically local.google.com, and I phoned ahead to see how much my cut would cost. I was pleasantly surprised that it’s only a sawbuck, and there’s no extra charge for a flat top. I thought that, even with a tip, this cut would cost me less than a standard cut a my usual barber.
Andy’s is filled with naval memorabilia; it’s clear that he’s proud of his military service. The shop is neat and clean, and best of all, the service is fast.
Don’t ask Andy to cut your hair on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoons…signs clearly announce that the shop’s closed so he can work on his golf game. But, on the upside, he opens his door bright and early at 7:30 weekdays and 7 o’clock Saturdays.
Go visit Andy, I’ll bet that you’ll get an honest haircut from a traditional, down-to-earth barber.
Tell Andy that Dave sent you!
